Open the dashboard

Go to servicedesk-simulator.com/teacher, or select the graduation-cap icon in the top right of the simulator.

If you are signed out you are sent to the sign-in page and returned here afterwards.

The dashboard has four tabs: Overview, Classrooms, Students and Assignments.

Create a classroom

  1. Go to Classrooms.
  2. Select Create classroom.
  3. Fill in Classroom Name, for example Period 3 - Help Desk 101.
  4. Set Max Students.
  5. Pick a Color. It is how you tell classrooms apart at a glance.
  6. Optionally add a Description.
  7. Fill in Organization, your school or programme name. The hint explains why: Named in the welcome email your students get, so their access reads as part of your program.
  8. Select Create.

You get the classroom and its Join Code.

The join code

Each classroom has a 6-character code. It is on the classroom card, and Click to copy join code copies it.

Hand it to your students, who enter it under Join Class. See Join your teacher’s class.

If a code is ever compromised or unusable, it can be regenerated. The old code stops working, so hand out the new one. Contact support if you need this done and cannot find the control.

Seats

Each classroom shows how many licences are left, as {count} licenses available or All seats filled. A full classroom cannot take more students until you free a seat or add more.

The Overview tab

Your at-a-glance view: Classrooms, Students, Tickets Resolved and Avg Score, plus Recent Activity, students active today, and assignments due this week.

Activity is bucketed as active today, active this week, or inactive, based on when each student last used the simulator.

Assignment Progress shows how many students have met each assignment’s goal.

What to do first

Create the classroom, hand out the code, and let students work the queue for a session before you set any assignment. The simulator ramps difficulty on its own from easy upwards, so a first session needs no setup from you.
