The Students tab

The roster across all your classrooms, with columns Student, Classroom, Score and Last active, plus each student’s Tickets, Calls and Tier.

Search with Search by name or email…

Activity is bucketed three ways, based on when the student last used the simulator:

  • Today
  • This week
  • Inactive

A student who has never used it shows never as their last active time.

Export the roster

Select the export control on the Students tab to download a CSV.

Two things worth knowing about what you get:

  • It exports exactly what the table is showing, in the order it is showing it. If you have a search active, the export is the filtered list, not the full roster. Clear the search first if you want everybody.
  • The file is named after the classroom when there is only one to name. A multi-classroom export gets a neutral filename instead of a misleading one.

Assignment progress

Assignments, then View Student Progress on an assignment, gives a live per-student view of Tickets, Calls and Status.

For a whole-class summary, the Overview tab shows {met}/{total} students met the goal for each active assignment.

Export grades to your gradebook

View Student Progress on an assignment, then Export grades.

For Canvas, start from Canvas. Open Grades in your course, choose Export, and drop that file into the panel. We add one column for the assignment, filled with each student’s points, and hand the file back for you to upload through Import. It works this way because Canvas matches rows against its own ID columns: a file built from our data alone imports with nobody matched. Students are matched strongest key first: their email against SIS Login ID, then SIS User ID, then the local part of the email against SIS Login ID, then their name. Each row and each student is used at most once, and anyone who did not line up is named on screen before you download.

The second download is a plain grade sheet, one row per student, with points possible, points earned, the percentage and whether the work was late. Google Classroom cannot import grades from a file at all, so that sheet is what you read from while entering them.

Spotting who is stuck

The Overview tab shows students active today, assignments due this week, and recent activity as it happens.

For who is falling behind, the Students tab is the better view. Sort your eye down the Last active column and the Tickets column together: a student marked Inactive who has tickets resolved started and stopped, while one showing never has not started at all. Those are different conversations.

What you can and cannot see

You see each student’s simulator progress: tickets resolved, score, calls, tier, last active, and their assignment submissions.

You do not get access to their account. You cannot sign in as them, read their chat conversations, or see or change their password.
