The message

That verification link has already been used or has expired. Send a new one below.

Why it happens

Verification links are single use, and sending a new one invalidates the older ones.

The usual sequence is: the first email did not arrive quickly, you selected Resend Verification Email, then the first email turned up and you clicked that one. It is now the old link, and it no longer works.

Fix it

  1. Select Resend Verification Email.
  2. Wait for the newest email. There is a 60-second cooldown between sends, shown as Resend in {seconds}s.
  3. Open the most recent email and click its link.
  4. Go back to the app tab. It checks every five seconds and moves you on by itself. If it does not, select I’ve Verified My Email.

Deleting the older verification emails first makes it much harder to click the wrong one.

The email is not arriving at all

  • Check spam. The screen says the same: Didn’t receive the email? Check your spam folder.
  • Check the address. It is shown on screen under We sent a verification link to. If it is wrong, select Use a different account and sign up with the correct one.
  • School and work addresses sometimes filter automated mail before it reaches you. A personal address is a quick way to test whether that is what is happening.

Other messages on this screen

Email not verified yet. Please check your inbox and click the verification link. The check worked and the address is genuinely still unverified. The link has not been clicked, or it was the wrong one.

Couldn’t check your verification status. Check your connection and try again. The check itself failed to reach us. Nothing is wrong with your email. This is a connection problem.

Failed to resend. Please try again. The resend did not go out. Try again in a moment.

Why it matters

An unverified account cannot join a classroom, which is the point at which most students discover they never verified. If you are a student waiting on a class code, verify first.
