You sign in and land back on the login screen

If sign-in appears to work but you are returned to the login page, your browser is not keeping the session between pages. On the teacher route the app names it directly, under the heading Sign-in isn’t sticking:

Your browser couldn’t keep you signed in between pages, so this page kept returning to the login screen. This usually means private browsing or blocked site data. Use a regular (non-private) window, try another browser, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings, then sign in again.

Causes, in order of likelihood:

  1. Private or incognito browsing. Site data is discarded, so the session cannot survive a page load. Use a normal window.
  2. Blocked site data or cookies. Strict privacy settings, or an extension blocking storage for the site.
  3. Corrupted site data. Clear this site’s data in your browser settings and sign in again.

Trying another browser is the fastest way to confirm which it is. If it works there, it is a setting or an extension in the first one.

The Google sign-in popup never opens

Sign-in popup was blocked. Please allow popups for this site.

Allow popups for servicedesk-simulator.com and try again. The popup has to open in response to your click, so a blocker that swallows it silently stops the whole flow.

Too many attempts

Too many attempts. Account locked for 5 minutes. or Too many attempts. Try again in N seconds.

Five failed sign-in attempts within a minute triggers a five-minute lock on the form. It is a rate limit on the browser, not a lock on your account, and nothing needs unlocking. Wait it out.

If you are locked out because you do not know the password, use Forgot Password? rather than guessing further.
